Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
We've not even played our strongest XI altogether yet and we're still looking to sign new players - including a forward, no doubt...

So quit the camp knicker-wetting...

I thought exactly that when I saw that score....... but they are in pre-season and it's all about fitness.

Arsenal smashed a fairly strong Lyon side 6-0. I fear for us in a few weeks.

Do you have any awareness of how you come across on this board?

That's good then. It means you are happy and can get excited at the hope of it being a bad season.

Rodfarts 3:17 Sun Jul 26
Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
Well maybe they should start working on how to make space for them self and make them self available for the ball......none of them seem to have a clue.

Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
Reason we might have looked like we didn't want to shoot as was suggested by someone and wanted to walk it in was because we were working on defensive shape and attacking with prescision and guile.

I'm sure there will be other games where we work on attacking more directly, but some CHUMPS seems to think that's all we should do and are disappointed if we don't smash every team in ore season as if it has any effect on the season at all.

Yeah Valencia was rusty as was young Burke early on.

Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
I agree.
Keep his feet on the ground..and we have a player there for sure..thought young cullen did well too.
Wont be too harsh on valencia..first game back..means nothing really

Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
I was impressed, thought his distribution was very good. Like the rest of the team made a few errors when tiredness kicked in but if he continues the way he's going will be a top player.

Cheers for that..people can views things differently of course.
How did you think young Oxford played in midfield?

Was at the game, normannomates has it spot on.

We seem to want to walk the ball into the net, which was annoying today.

What happened at half time? Bloke in my row was fucking fuming

Anyone go to the British Oak then?

Shouldn't read too much into pre-season, bad results in last years and it was alright up unti Christmas once the season began

Hang on - they are the best we've got.

As for hitting the ground running, they have probably had as much, if not more gane time than the Charlton defenders,

I'm not knocking them (yet) just making the observations.

Will be keen to see a fuller strength team against Astra on Thursday. We will see if it's coming together then. Personally I think we need more attacking options. Carrol is a dead duck for now.

It will be Valencia and Lee v the Romanians I suppose

Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
Decided to go over today, mainly to have a butchers at Payet and Ogbonna.
Payet had plenty of the ball..showed some nice skill..once in particular at the beginning of second half. Seemed hesitant to shoot though on a few occasions in good positions.

Ogbonna was solid enough alongside tomkins.

It was Samuelson that really impressed..alwayscshowing for the ball and drifted all over..not just isolating himself out wide.
Great feet and not afraid to take players on..a maturity and confidence in his play beyond his yrs.

Young knoyle did ok at left back.

Oxford and Cullen also.

Valencia was very poor today.

Shit turnout from charlton..and some idiots in our end played up throwing lager about and getting the bar shut down at half time.

Some fucking twats following our club these days

dicksie3 10:56 Sat Jul 25
Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
Had a beer or 8...

2k or so West Ham... Very reasonable turnout...

BOATY WHOers about looking their BOATIEST...

Good day...

0-0?!...

So what?!...

It's a fucking friendly...

TheBoleynBoy 10:53 Sat Jul 25
Re: Charlton Athletic Away...
Our very best attacking force??? Sakho and Payet?

Sakho you could argue has had 1 game and 15mins in Europe, with a few friendlies

Payet has had two games

I don't expect them to be hitting the ground running straight away to be honest

Valencia's first game back aswell

No-one is pissing themselves - just making factual observations and comment.

The people that react badly to some of these comments are the real ones pissing themselves.
